The
Haitian Orthodox Mission
was established by act of the Synod of Bishops of the ROCOR in 2000
(although there had been prior activity in Haiti, there had been no
organized supervision). Archpriest Gregory, pastor of the Church of the
Annunciation, was appointed Administrator. With the submission of most
of the ROCOR hierarchy to the Moscow Patriarchate ini May 2007, the
Mission remained with the faithful remnant of the ROCOR, under the
omophorion of
Metropolitan Agafangel of New York and America, who confirmed its status (as part of the newly-formed Department of Missions) and the apppintment of its administrator.
